GTAKE MCU at Sanitation Trucks in Paris & New York

GTAKE in the EU and US market

The United Nations "Carbon Emission Gap Report 2019" stated that in order to achieve the climate protection goal, the world will need to reduce carbon emissions by 2.7% each year in the next decade. The report pointed out that in the past 10 years, greenhouse gas emissions have increased by 1.5% per year, of which greenhouse gas emissions in 2018 hit a record high of 55.3 billion tons of "carbon dioxide equivalent". A large part of greenhouse gas emissions come from vehicle exhaust, among which the exhaust from heavy-duty trucks accounts for a quarter.

Heavy-duty sanitation trucks are closely related to our daily lives, and can be easily seen on the road and garbage collection stations. This type of trucks greatly assists us in garbage transportation and collection, which makes our surroundings sanitary. Unsatisfactorily, the engine of the sanitation truck has to keep operating during the garbage loading and unloading so as to drive the loads on vehicle such as loading system, air-conditioning, air pump and so forth. Engine working at idle for a long time not only makes annoying noise, but also produces more greenhouse gases, neither economical nor environmentally-friendly.

How to solve this problem?

With the widespread and mature application of hybrid technology in passenger cars, a way forward is clearly articulated in front of the pathfinders.

After years of systematic research and development, repeated testing and commissioning, E company in Canada has innovatively launched excellent hybrid solutions for various types of vocational vehicles.

The system utilizes an ultra-capacitor which can be charged and discharged millions of times without remarkably changing its performance, and is equipped with the Active Stop-Start™ technology and remote data monitoring system. The energy generated by heavy-duty trucks during braking can be efficiently recycled. This system has been successfully applied in sanitation vehicles in cities such as Paris and New York to manage and reduce the operation time of the engine, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. After adopting the system, greenhouse gas emissions from these trucks were dramatically reduced by more than 26% on average, highly praised by the Municipal Environmental Sanitation Bureau. At the same time, this system has brought significant fuel-saving benefits to the sanitation companies.

# Advantages

GTAKE actively took part in the whole process of development, testing and matching for the hybrid system with the E company in Canada. Based on years of technology accumulation, GTAKE EV/HEV motor controllers can maximize the energy saving effect and meets various requirements such as quick response, smooth control, low noise output and all-round protections.

The Active Stop-Start™ technology can also be applied to tractors in cargo ports, concrete mixer trucks, bucket loader vehicles and so on, playing an important role in energy saving and gas emission reduction for vocational trucks.

GTAKE low-voltage VFDs/AC Drives, Motor Controllers/MCU, battery simulator and four-quadrant drive system for test rigs have been widely used worldwide for the purpose of energy saving, emission reduction, automation and production efficiency improvement.

Let us together protect the Earth we live on.
