Thermal oxidizer system to treat 300,000 tons/year PO/HP Off-gas
Efficient Off-Gas Treatment Technology for 300,000 t/y PO/HP Units
Acceptance Time: November 2022
Location: Zibo, Shandong
Solution: TO (Direct-Fired Thermal Oxidizer)
Pollution Source: PO/HP Off-gas
Capacity: 13,600 Nm³/h
This direct-fired thermal oxidizer system is designed to treat process off-gas generated from a 300,000-ton/year propylene oxide (PO) production unit. The system can handle 9,418–13,316 kg/h of off-gas under normal operating conditions. During operation, the off-gas is pressurized by the client and transported to the incinerator’s burner, where it undergoes high-temperature oxidation. The combustion chamber ensures sufficient residence time for complete oxidation, with the flue gas temperature maintained between 900–1,100°C.
High-temperature oxidation produces a small amount of thermal and prompt NOx. To achieve effective denitrification, ammonia injection nozzles are installed in the furnace at appropriate temperature zones for SNCR treatment. The heat released during incineration is recovered through a waste heat boiler, which produces 2.5 MPaG, 226°C saturated steam at a rate of 9–12 t/h. The waste heat boiler consists of evaporator tubes, an SCR reactor, an economizer, an induced draft fan, and a chimney. After heat recovery, the flue gas is drawn by the induced draft fan and discharged through the chimney in compliance with emission standards.
The system occupies an area of approximately 40 m × 25 m. Equipment installation and furnace drying were completed in May 2022, followed by final system handover in November 2022.
