How to solve the problem of frequent overburning when processing 12mm thick 25mm square shapes

When cutting carbon steel materials and the cutting pattern has sharp corners.

【Phenomenon】

When cutting carbon steel materials and the cutting pattern has sharp corners, it is easy to cause melting loss or overburning in the area of the sharp corners. Moreover, the cutting speed will also slow down as the wall thickness increases, and the temperature generated during the cutting process will continue to accumulate in the pipe, resulting in an increase in the temperature of the material and frequent occurrence of melting loss or overburning at the sharp corners.

【Reason】

The heat generated by laser irradiation and oxidative combustion is effectively diffused into the processed pipe, and the processed pipe can be cooled in time. The reason for overburning is insufficient cooling of the processed pipe. When there are obvious sharp corners in the shape of the processed pipe, the heat dissipation area of the side with the smaller two sides of the sharp corner part is also small. Therefore, the temperature will rise and it is very easy to cause overheating. In addition, the hole of the pipe that is pierced at the same time will absorb heat, and the temperature will rise sharply in the small hole, which is very easy to cause the phenomenon of over-burning.

【Solution】

1. When processing small size, the heat will increase with the increase of processing time, and it will be very easy to cause over-burning in the second half of processing. Therefore, it is necessary to disperse the processing routes, so that heat dissipation will be effective. However, the processing route also needs to be optimized and modified according to the processing graphics.

2.The over-burning of the sharp corners can be carried out by changing the sharp corners to small rounded corners, which will prevent the concentration of heat. The larger the corner radius, the less overburning will occur. The fillet radius also needs to be increased when processing pipes with thicker walls.

3.The reason why the sharp corner part will be melted with the increase of temperature during processing is that when the laser beam reaches the processing part, the processed part has been radiated by high temperature. If the cutting speed of the laser beam is faster than the heat conduction speed of the pipe, the processed pipe will be completed before it is heated, which can also effectively prevent the occurrence of over-burning.
