Single-Channel Fiber Optical Rotary Joints (FORJ)

Fiber optical rotary joints (FORJs) are the optical equivalent to electric slip rings. They allow for the uninterrupted transmission of optical signals while rotating around their shaft.

The most cost and size efficient options are the single channel designs. Since fiber optic offers almost endless of bandwidth you can multiplex your required signals and run them through one fiber. The three most commonly used bands of spectra are 850 nm, 1310 nm, and 1550 nm.

Feature:

Using light signal transmission, no electromagnetic leakage

Good sealing

Resistance to electromagnetic interference

No contact transmission, no wear and tear

Long life, can be up to 10 million RPM

No friction, can be used in inflammable and explosive environment

Can be used in extreme natural environment

High magnetic current interference, also can work normally

Applications:

Between in undersea robot and control ship

Between in radar antenna and on-board signal processing system

With the chariot rotating tower car body console

Between in welding robot and console

Remote mechanical input and output devices and control

The photoelectric theodolite

The connection between the platform and spacecraft tracking
