New: Online seminar "Leak testing with air and helium

Trainees benefit from many years of experience

The dynamic development of e-mobility presents many companies with new challenges. Not only entire production lines have to be adapted, all areas in production are affected - especially quality assurance.

For components that are installed in an e-vehicle, the requirements of the IP protection class apply. Thus, water must not lead to dangerous conditions under any circumstances during the entire service life of a vehicle. This means that all components must be sufficiently waterproof. For the traction battery, protection class IP67 or IP69K is therefore required.

The limiting leak rates required cannot be checked with the methods of leak testing commonly used up to now. Leak testing with air reaches its physical limits here. In this case, the helium sniffing test is a suitable method for detecting smaller leakage rates.

For this reason, JW Froehlich now offers an online seminar in which not only the theoretical basics of leak testing with air are discussed, but also the general conditions to be taken into account in a helium sniff test. The participants benefit from the extensive experience that JW Froehlich has gained over the past years.

Seminar content:

- Aim of the test

- Terms used

- The different leak test methods

- Influencing variables

- Criteria for fixture construction

- Limits of the method

- Measurement capability tests

- Overview of standards for leak testing

- Helium sniff test

- Helium sniff test in practice

- Various test scenarios

Learning objectives:

- You are familiar with the theoretical principles and are able to take them into account when planning leak tests.

- You will be able to define test specifications.

- You are able to define the optimal leak test procedure for your application.

- You know the influences that can affect the result of a leak test and are able to eliminate them in your test setup.

- You will know what to look for in fixture construction and be able to recognise flaws in the fixture.

- You know the limitations of the method and can take these into account when planning a test rig.

- They can carry out and evaluate measurement capability tests.

- They know the general conditions that must be observed during a helium sniff test.
