Ergonomic retrieval of tires using an Intermat storage paternoster
With seven locations in total, Delorge is one of the biggest car dealers in Belgium. The authorized dealer for VW, Audi, and Skoda keeps a large number of summer and winter tires in stock all year round for its customers. Due to a lack of space, this was previously taken care of by an external company. In order to put an end to this inefficient process along with the long distances and long waiting times involved, Delorge decided to manage its own tire handling operation in future with an automated storage and retrieval solution.
Delorge also wished to improve its customer service, provide a more ergonomic workspace for its employees, and generate new sales with its previously loss-making winter tire service.
Two Intermat storage units from Intertex are now in use at its dealership in Hasselt. The space-saving solution from Kardex Remstar’s industry partner can store and retrieve 6,600 tires. Together with alloys wheels, they are stored in two storage paternosters on a footprint measuring less than 140 square meters.
