Plastic Deep-Groove Ball Bearings Made POM (Polyoxymethylene)

Let’s talk about bearings.

Once upon a time, a water-purification company in Japan was having some trouble with their machinery. It seems the steel bearings that were standard in the machines they used to purify their water kept slowing down and seizing up. They often needed replacement, which of course meant down time for their vital machinery, delaying production and increasing costs. This just would not do!

So, they investigated. They soon determined that the steel bearings were quickly becoming corroded, rusted and pitted, to the point where they became unusable in a surprisingly short time. And the culprits? Water and UV radiation.

Naturally, they realized the environment could not be changed, so they needed to do something about the steel bearings. And, they started searching.

Luckily, their search soon led them to Kashima Bearings, Inc., where they found the solution to their problems.

These were made from POM (Polyoxymethylene), plastics that withstand getting irradiated with UV fairly well, that cannot rust, and that need zero lubrication (helping maintain the purity of the product).

As their machinery required much less maintenance, they could meet the demand for their purified water more easily, reducing stress and irritation, giving the bosses one less thing to worry about.
