These materials have a wide range of properties, including machinability, reduced manufacturing and maintenance costs, low cycle times, low scrap rates and durability.
Depending on the requirements, it is also possible to make the base of the die out of plastics such as polypropylene, ABS and ASA. This is particularly useful for applications where the mold is subject to repeated temperature changes and must be able to withstand the pressure of repeated thermal cycling without softening at the shot temperature.
