Automotive Injection Mold Base Cooling Principles

In order to improve productivity and ensure product quality, the basic principle of mold cooling system design is to ensure uniform cooling of plastic parts.

Pay attention to the following points when designing:

①The number of cooling water holes should be as large as possible and the size should be as large as possible

The temperature of the cavity surface is closely related to the size and density of the cooling water holes. The cooling water holes have a large diameter and small hole spacing, and the surface temperature of the cavity is uniform.

②The distance from the cooling water hole to the surface of the cavity should be appropriate

The distance between the hole wall and the cavity should be appropriate, generally greater than 10mm, usually 12-15mm. If it is too close, the surface temperature of the cavity will be uneven; if it is too far, the thermal resistance will be large and the cooling efficiency will be low.

③Water and material parallel to strengthen the cooling at the gate

During molding, the high-temperature plastic melt is filled into the cavity from the gate, the mold temperature near the gate is high, and the temperature at the end of the material flow is low.

④The temperature difference between the inlet water and the outlet water should not be too large

If the difference between the inlet water temperature and the outlet water temperature is too large, the temperature distribution of the mold will be uneven. In order to obtain approximately the same cooling rate for the entire product, it is necessary to reasonably arrange the cooling water channels to reduce the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet water.

⑤ Cooling water hole layout should be reasonable

The cooling water channel should be arranged according to the shape of the cavity as much as possible. The shape of the plastic part is different, and the position of the cooling water channel is also different.

⑥The cooling channel should be easy to process and assemble

The structural design of the cooling water channel must pay attention to its processing technology. It should be easy to process and manufacture, and simple processing technology such as drilling should be used as much as possible.

For the embedded combined cooling water channel, attention should also be paid to the sealing of the water channel to prevent the cooling water from leaking into the cavity and causing corrosion of the cavity.
