L.B. Bohle shines at Achema

Innovations led customers to the booth

This year´s ACHEMA in Frankfurt (Germany) was a huge success for the German machine builder L.B. Bohle. At the expansive booth, they shared with tablet press specialists, Korsch AG, interested parties and customers were able to find out more about current sold dosage production trends under the motto "Your Process in Mind".

As the highlight of the trade fair, L.B. Bohle focused on QbCon® 1, the market's first continuous twin-screw granulator with an integrated, truly continuous dryer. The trade show visitors were enthusiastic about this unique new machine, because QbCon® 1 accomplishes truly continuous drying and granulation with very narrow and reproducible dwell times in the dryer, as well as stable quality of the granules in terms of moisture and particle size for the very first time.

By using PAT, the production process can be tracked inline. This leads to constant production of high-quality products, high patient safety, lower costs, a better process understanding and optimized process control. Complete control and monitoring of the entire process takes place via a touch panel. QbCon® 1 requires little space and is suitable for the lowest throughputs (nominal throughput: 0.5-2.5 kg / h), but throughput can be increased far greater depending on the product.

Just from seeing QbCon® 1 at the fair, customers have already arranged to get a closer look and test this machine at the Bohle facility.

With the lifting column HS 1000 SL L.B. Bohle unveiled another innovation. The new lifting column impresses with its extremely small footprint and enables gentle lifting, precise docking, precise slewing and rotating as well as the integration of containment valves, drum adapter or other equipment.

As a further innovation, the pharmaceutical experts from Germany presented the monitoring application b.sure®, a platform for all PLC systems enabling machine operators to keep track of all process data at all times.

Unlike other cloud-based applications, b.sure® processes all data on a communication server on the internal network and sends this data only to authorized individuals in the organization. With b.sure®, deviations from process parameters or error messages can be detected at an early stage at authorized end devices or PC workstations without having direct access to the control panels of the system. In addition, the app includes a maintenance mode with notification feature that provides information about upcoming maintenance and calibration.

The other best sellers at the exhibition booth were also very popular. The film coater BFC 50 Tripan with three exchangeable drums aroused great interest due to the containment equipment. Furthermore, visitors learned about the extensive granulation program of L.B. Bohle, from which the single-pot granulator VMA and the roller compactor BRC 25 were presented.

The tablet checker KA 280 was not only a visual highlight on the exhibition stand, but was shown in full operation. Visitors were very interested in controlling film-coated tablets, dragees or capsules.

The hammer mill BTM 150 was also very well received by the audience as it was the first time shown with a touch panel.

The L.B. Bohle Maschinen + Verfahren GmbH would like to thank all who visited ACHEMA and looks forward to working with all customers in the future.
