New optical kit encoders

Lika Electronic complements its range of kit encoders and introduces some developments

AMM is an extensive line-up of optical absolute encoders designed in a kit module. They are distinguished by the small size, the high resolution and the fine accuracy, so they are perfect to be directly integrated into high performance space critical applications according to the latest design trends such as in robotics.

They have a very compact and low profile frameless package with a through hollow shaft for installation in through hollow shaft motors (such as in direct drive torque motors), robot joints and mechanical transmission devices. They are designed to perfectly fit common motor sizes with shaft diameters ranging between 12 mm and 50 mm (0.472” ÷ 1.968”). The outer diameter of their package is comprised between 25 mm and 80 mm (0.984” ÷ 3.150”), while the average thickness is 12.5 mm only (0.492”). They are supplied pre-calibrated and the assembly process is limited to a few seconds, they can be easily mount to and dismount from the shaft without special cares. The range of the operating temperature is -40°C to +100°C (-40°F to 212ºF).

From the electrical point of view, kit encoders provide digital position feedback information via BiSS interface. The resolution is 21 bit singleturn (2,097,152 cpr) along with accuracy in the ±0.010° range. An additional incremental track further yields 256 Sine/Cosine 1Vpp signals for speed feedback and interpolation needs.

Lika's range of kit encoders and modular encoders includes incremental and absolute models with optical and magnetic sensing technologies. Optical encoders provide high resolution and accuracy and are capable of ensuring the greatest precision in dynamic and demanding motion control applications. Magnetic encoders are rugged and protected up to IP69K, so they are highly immune to dust, oil and contaminants and ideally suited for hard use in critical environments. In all cases the minimal and modular design allows for the most comfortable integration. Lika develops customer-specific solutions to meet individual dimension, resolution, and connection needs for OEMs.
