Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH, located in Hanover, has purchased a back and forth bending machine for wire tests as well as a torsion testing machine of the type inspekt T-200H from Hegewald & Peschke. High-strength wires, used in tyre production, are tested with the testing machines. The wires with diameters from 0.3 to 8 mm must withstand back and forth bending according to DIN51211. With this test, the sample clamped in place at one end is bent back and forth in the respective opposite direction at an angle of 90°.
When testing the wires with the torsion testing machine, the wires are twisted until they break.
The torsion testing machine is offered in different versions and is not solely intended for wire testing; it can also be used for testing plastics, composite materials, bolts and jointed shafts.
