HPF Max forming tap

The new HPF MAX forming tap guarantees even longer tool life thanks to its fine-grain carbide substrate, TiCN coating and optimized tool geometry.

LMT Fette High Performance Forming (HPF) is well-established on the market. This system’s combination of carbide threading head and steel shank guarantees process reliability. The goal of the new HPF Max product was to dramatically increase tool life. This has been achieved with a new micro-grain carbide substrate, an especially wear-resistant TiCN coating and optimized former geometry. Compared with a one-piece solid carbide forming tap, for example, the new product was able to increase tool life quantity by 166% for the production of blind-hole threads MF 12x1.5 in connecting rods made of C70 material at a forming speed of 20 m/min. The area of application for the HPF Max is mass production.
