The High Performance Coating Line: A milestone for the coating technology

The High Performance Coating Line: A milestone for the coating technology In June, Lohmann launched her new High Performance Coating Line (HPCL) at the headquarters in Neuwied, Germany. The multifunctional coating machine is the centerpiece of Lohmann’s new Technology Center (TEC-Center), which will be opened in 2016. The HPCL is able to coat every narrow-web material used from reel to reel. Furthermore, it is suitable for pre-serial production and meets particular requirements, also under cleanroom conditions. The HPCL is 22 meters long, eight meters high and two meters wide. Lohmann has invested more than three Million Euros in its new machine and has thus once again committed herself to innovation.

Members of the Executive Board Dr. Norman Goldberg and Elmar Boeke, greeted their guests with the words: “With this new building, we have done a giant step towards innovating the future.” Dirk Hartmann, Project Manager TEC-Center, introduced the new machine. He also described the function of the new Technology Center as the first building at the site. Hartmann said: “It is going to be a quantum leap for Lohmann and an architectural showcase project for Neuwied.” The new building at Lohmann’s headquarters will bridge the gap between technology, sales and marketing. Especially customers and visitors will profit from its numerous innovative usages.

Lohmann’s main aim of the more than 11 Million Euros project is to consolidate all technical functions and thus visualize the complex activities of the “Bonding Engineers”. This includes for example Lohmann’s competence in the production and application of bonding solutions. Hence, the product development, the technical center, the polymerization, the application technology, the process technology and the central testing laboratory will find a place in the new building. In many of these fields there will be customer- and product-orientated innovations. The HPCL is part of this. Customers can experience the development of their products in a so-called “simulation room”.
