Micro-wellness: how swimming pool operators can benefit from the wellness trend
15 minutes of swimming after work instead of an expensive weekend at the spa: more people are integrating micro-wellness into their daily routines.
Lutz-Jesco Suisse SA will demonstrate how traditional swimming pool operators can benefit from this trend. The disinfection specialist will present the TECHNOSTAR disinfection system, which operates with lightly salted pool water to create a gentler water feel and a unique swimming experience. Operators such as Cabrio Bad Senden combine reliable disinfection with an improved feel-good atmosphere.
The TECHNOSTAR electrolysis system consists of a control cabinet and a tubular electrolysis cell which is integrated directly into the water circuit. In day-to-day operation, staff only need to add a small amount of salt to the water. The disinfection process follows a simple physical principle: as the saline pool water flows through the electrolysis cell, the chloride ions combine at the cell anodes to form chlorine gas. The free chlorine inactivates bacteria, algae, and viruses through oxidation, ensuring hygienically clean water. “The most powerful TECHNOSTAR version produces up to 250 grams of hypochlorous acid per hour per cell, which can also be arranged multiple times in a bypass configuration to deliver even higher output,” says Thomas Beutel, Business Development Manager at Lutz-Jesco. “That makes the electrolysis systems we are presenting this year at Swissbad 2026 among the most powerful solutions on the market.”
Everyday wellness, elevated: Cabrio Bad Senden modernizes its water treatment with TECHNOSTAR
One of the places using TECHNOSTAR is Cabrio Bad in Senden, North Rhine-Westphalia. The facility welcomes up to 235,000 visitors each year. “To ensure visitors can enjoy impeccably hygienic water even during peak periods, we upgraded our water treatment system with Lutz-Jesco technology in 2025,” says Lars Peters, Operations Manager at Cabrio Bad Senden. The electrolysis system automatically adjusts its disinfection performance to match contamination levels, working with the building management system, in-pool sensors, and the TOPAX MC multi-channel controller, which monitors parameters such as chlorine, pH, and redox value.
Salt concentration in the swimming pools ranges from 0.35 to 0.4%, while in the brine pool it ranges from 2.5 to 3%. This range is close to the natural salt content of the human body. Tear fluid, for example, contains around 0.9% salt. “This natural balance makes the water feel gentle and especially comfortable for the eyes and mucous membranes,” Thomas Beutel emphasizes. “Children in particular, as well as people requiring therapy, benefit from the skin-friendly water quality.”
Easy to operate: maintenance only once a year
Since 2007, Cabrio Bad has been using electrolysis to generate disinfectants. All pool components have always been resistant to the low salt content. “The previous system did, however, require a great deal of maintenance,” recalls Lars Peters, Operations Manager of the Cabrio Bad. Every two weeks, complex flushing procedures had to be carried out. “The amount of time we save today is truly impressive. We only need to have the TECHNOSTAR serviced once a year.” Another advantage: in day-to-day operation, the electrolysis system self-cleans while production continues. This is made possible by a specialized cleaning technology. Two independently operating cell modules alternately take over disinfectant production while the other module is being cleaned.
