Safety Week: A second edition that was even more practical and immersive to raise employee awareness

06/26/2026

As part of our sustainability initiative, we recently organized the second edition of “Safety Week” for our employees. The goal of this event was to raise employee awareness of the specific risks in our industry while strengthening our safety culture and sharing best practices for our daily work.

A rich and varied program

To make this week as enriching as possible, we organized several themed workshops:

• The Road Safety Workshop: Participants had the opportunity to take part in a unique interactive experience using the “rollover car.” They were able to discover firsthand what it feels like when a vehicle rolls over and understand the importance of wearing a seatbelt. They also learned about the proper actions to take in the event of an accident. This immersive demonstration helped heighten employee awareness while encouraging them to adopt safer behaviors in their daily lives.

• The Eye Relaxation Workshop: Participants learned simple and effective techniques to relieve eye strain, which is often caused by excessive screen time or tasks that require precision. They learned exercises to reduce eye fatigue, improve their comfort at work, and prevent headaches. This workshop offered them a moment of relaxation while teaching them new practices to incorporate into their daily routines.

• The Movements and Posture Workshop: Participants learned how to use proper movements to protect their backs and prevent muscle pain. Through this workshop and handling heavy loads, they learned essential techniques for working safely, including how to avoid poor posture and reduce the risk of injury. This workshop empowered them to take care of their health through simple and effective movements.

• The Safety Court Workshop: Participants were immersed in a real courtroom setting, surrounded by professional actors. They observed a reenactment of an interactive trial concerning a workplace accident. Our employees analyzed the facts, identified the various parties’ responsibilities, and decided on the verdict. This workshop helped them become aware of the consequences of risky behavior and the importance of safety in their daily work.

• The Fire Extinguisher Training Workshop: Participants learned how to properly use a fire extinguisher and respond effectively in the event of a fire. They learned about the different types of fires, the proper safety protocols to follow, and the essential steps to respond quickly and confidently. This workshop helped them become more adept in handling a fire extinguisher and strengthened their ability to prevent and manage an emergency.

• The Eagle Eye Challenge: Participants determined what led to a simulated accident using the cause tree method (or the “5 Whys” method). This was a fun and practical way to understand the mechanisms behind incidents and how to prevent them.

• Themed Safety Quizzes: Every day, our employees were able to test their knowledge by taking quizzes on various topics, such as road safety, workplace well-being, and fire safety. Fact sheets outlining best practices for each risk were then sent to employees to help them develop the right habits in their daily work.

“Safety isn’t just a priority; it’s a collective responsibility that we put into practice every day at MECATHERM. Through Safety Week, we aim to go beyond raising awareness by giving everyone the tools to take action, understand risks, and adopt the right habits for the future because a safe and supportive work environment is at the heart of our sustainability commitment.” - Amandine CARDONNET, Sustainability Manager at MECATHERM.

This annual event demonstrates our ongoing commitment to creating a safe and supportive work environment for every employee over the long term.
