PM DM becomes MinebeaMitsumi Technology Center Europe
With a new name comes new responsibility
The Precision Motors Deutsche Minebea engine development center was founded in 1991 and has been based in Villingen-Schwenningen in the Black Forest since 2000. The site has grown rapidly and steadily – today more than 400 employees, mostly developers and engineers, work in the Minebea Way. Originally founded as a pure development center for hard drive motors, the company has now established itself as the fulcrum for engine development in the international parent company MinebeaMitsumi. From 1 October, the company name will also be adapted to the central position in the group of companies: PM DM GmbH will become MinebeaMitsumi Technology Center Europe GmbH.
"With the change of name, Technology Center Europe is also taking on new areas of responsibility," explains Managing Director and MinebeaMitsumi Europe CEO Jörg Hoffmann. "In addition to our ongoing activities, we will in future act as a central development centre for various new products and technologies of our parent company." The aim is to bring innovation to the market even faster and more effectively together with European customers. In the future, the development portfolio in Villingen will no longer be limited to the development of drive technologies alone, but will also include new areas such as LED backlights and sensor technology. For the 17 other European production and development sites, the Tech Center will become a development headquarters. Jörg Hoffmann looks forward to the great challenge with confidence: "We have worked hard to develop our position and function in the Group, the change of name is the next step in our growth strategy. We will reconcile the European locations as best we can." In this context, a uniform European web presence went online in time for the IAA trade fair in Frankfurt under www.minebeamitsumi.eu.
HOWEVER, PM DM will not completely disappear from the picture. As a brand name, customers still find the familiar lettering on the products. Otherwise, existing customers and partners can rely on the usual service of the development center: The address as well as all terms and conditions remain unaffected by the change of name, the Technology Center is still a competent partner in all existing business units.
