AXiA EX: NARROW AISLES, HUGE BENEFITS
Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks unveils new generation of stand-in stacker
Joining the award-winning warehouse range from Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks is the AXiA EX stand-in stacker.
The six new models - ranging from 1.2–2.0 tonnes - combine the key concepts of the Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks engineering philosophy: reliability, productivity, ergonomics, and technology to create a truly operator-first design.
OPTIMISE YOUR OPERATION
The stand-in stacker is an ideal choice for those looking to maximise warehouse space.
It makes for an affordable and flexible alternative to a full VNA solution.
With the driver completely contained within the truck, the chassis can be kept extremely compact. This makes aisle width requirements less than that of platform stackers and reach trucks and potentially allowing for two-way aisle traffic. Combine that with an incredibly tight turning circle and you have an incredibly manoeuvrable and productive vehicle for busy stacking and transport work.
When compared to pedestrian stackers, designing a warehouse around the stand-in stacker can result in a 35% more efficient layout as aisles can be both narrower and taller. As a result of this improved density and better use of available floor space, the typical cost-per-pallet position is lowered by a third.
A SAFER APPROACH
The operator staying within an enclosed chassis and overhead guard makes them far safer while working. When moving heavy loads with a pedestrian stacker and working unprotected, there is always a risk of serious leg or foot injury. By standing inside the truck during transportation, the danger is removed.
Similarly, turning or reversing in narrow spaces when operating a pedestrian truck can potentially lead to an operator being trapped or caught between the truck and racking or they may collide with a wall behind them. AXiA EX protects the driver on all sides while allowing for easier turning.
The form factor is also safer from an ergonomic point on view. It's highly suitable for tasks where there's a need to step on and off multiple times while working, and a standing driver is more mobile and engaged during shifts, lowering the chance of strain injuries.
The design allows the operator to lean back into a more relaxed position while driving, making travel much more comfortable over longer distances. All controls are intuitive and easily accessible from the natural driving position. The optional Ergo Forks Trailing control allows the driver to face the direction of travel when working with forks trailing instead of having to twist their body at an angle.
With many other smart safety features such as the Intelligent Cornering System and the Enhanced Stability System, the AXiA EX stand-in stacker makes for a smart choice.
