Analyze, Test, and Optimize Your Loading Units

Load units are exposed to numerous stresses and strains on their way to their destination. Choosing the right transport packaging is therefore crucial, and not just when dangerous goods are being shipped. If an accident occurs, it can have serious consequences - from property damage to personal injury. For you as the distributor of the loading unit, this can have far-reaching legal consequences, as you are liable for the safety of your loading unit. To help you choose the right packaging for your transport route, we test your loads for transport safety in our TechCenter . A test by the TechCenter covers more than just safety requirements: the tests allow for precise optimization of the packaging - in terms of safety, costs and sustainability. If the TechCenter's results show that the current transport security is more than sufficient, further tests can be carried out to determine the minimum amount or thickness of packaging material required to achieve the required security. A combination of different packaging methods is also a conceivable result. For even more sustainability, our CO2 product calculator is also available. This calculates the exact emissions caused by the packaging and the packaging material - and provides indications of how to reduce them in a targeted manner.

Hazards and stresses associated with a load:

At our Mosca TechCenter, we use various test benches to demonstrate a technical in-transit inspection that shows how pallet loads behave under different load scenarios, giving you an idea of whether your shipping packaging is safe. After completing the test stations, we issue you a test certificate that documents the test results in writing.

Your advantages at a glance
• Maximum safety - especially for the transportation of hazardous goods
• Cost minimization for primary, secondary and transport packaging
• Sustainable through targeted optimization of packaging
• Adaptation to individual transport routes
• Test report according to international norms and standards
• Machine, packaging material, testing and optimization from a single source
• Avoidance of transport damage and complaints

Four test stations are available to you:

The TechCenter is equipped with four test stations for dynamic testing of the load units in order to examine a wide variety of loads and their influence on the respective transport packaging: a Tilt Testing Tool, Horizontal Stability Tester, Inclined Impact Tester and a Vertical Vibration System. There is also an evaluation unit that records and evaluates deformations during the stability test with camera support. A data logger completes the TechCenter by recording and collecting the required data on shocks, vibrations and accelerations during transport. A particular advantage of the data logger is that we can accompany your actual transport route and find out together what loads affect your product during transport, which we can then simulate on the respective test bench - this allows us to adapt the packaging to your individual requirements.

1. Tilt testing tool for inclination tests:
In our recommended combination of test methods, the Tilt Testing Tool serves as the first simple indicator for quick quality control by means of a tilt test. This means we check whether you are traveling safely with the previously used transport packaging and whether the load is sufficiently stable or strong. The results of this method can be used to quickly determine whether the load unit should undergo further test procedures.

2. Horizontal dynamic stability testing system for acceleration / deceleration:
The Horizontal Stability Tester is an advanced modern solution to simulate horizontal acceleration and deceleration in accordance with the most important international standards such as EUMOS 40509 and the US FMCSA cargo securing requirements. The driving test shows in real time what effect a predefined horizontal acceleration and deceleration has on the stability of your load unit.

3. Inclined impact tester for impacts and crushing forces:
The Inclined Impact Tester is used to test the protective capability of transport packaging under the influence of impacts and crushing forces during the distribution cycle. Using gravity, the inclined impact tester evaluates the design of the transported goods when subjected to horizontal impacts or crushing forces. Depending on the test protocol, a speed of up to 2.5 m/s is achieved.

4. Vertical vibration system for vertical vibrations:
This device performs vertical, standard vibrations and is able to create random vibration profiles. With our data recorder, all real conditions of a distribution cycle can be recorded and reproduced on the Vertical Vibration System. This gives you the opportunity to reduce costs due to product and packaging damage or poor packaging design.

Test your transport packaging before an emergency occurs:

With these tools, we are well equipped to provide you with exactly the tests that are crucial for your transport route. Because how well the load is secured in the event of an accident only becomes apparent when the worst comes to the worst. So take the opportunity to put your load units through their paces in our new Mosca TechCenter.
