Indonesia accelerates green energy transformation
The use and development of green energy
In recent years, Indonesia has actively promoted the use and development of green energy, becoming a center for energy transformation in Southeast Asia. According to data from the Indonesian National Energy Commission in 2023, Indonesia's current proportion of clean energy is only 13.09%. The government's goal is to increase the proportion of clean energy to 19.49% by 2024, reach 23% by 2025, and 31% by 2050. Meanwhile, this year Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund will invest approximately $1 billion in all industries, with green energy as one of its top priorities. The Indonesian Investment Authority stated that Indonesia is actively promoting potential investments in the electric vehicle ecosystem and geothermal energy sector, and seeking financing for the early retirement of coal-fired power plants.
