OWIS® high-precision linear stages LIMES 84N-IMS: now also with integrated high resolution measuring system

For years, they are among the best sellers under the high-precision linear stages – the OWIS® LIMES series. With their excellent positioning properties they are particularly suitable for use in research and development, where highest precision is required. The LIMES series are likewise ideal for industrial use – by their suitability for continuous operation. After a comprehensive revision the motorized positioners are also available with integrated high resolution measuring system from the first quarter 2016. With this additional LIMES 84N-IMS series the new series LIMES 84N is extended.

For the first time, OWIS® has integrated the high resolution measuring system in positioners of this series. The construction height of the LIMES 84N of only 38 mm corresponds to the one of the LIMES 84N-IMS. Consequently, the new high-precision linear stages are particularly suitable for use in limited spaces. The LIMES 84N-IMS motor is almost completely encapsulated, so that damper and encoder cannot be damaged. Furthermore, with this series the LIMES with step motor and the LIMES with DC servo motor use the same 26 pin connection, which is also used to control the complete measuring system. Most interesting is that with this series it is possible to integrate the high-resolution measuring system also later on.

With the new mounting grid, installation of the LIMES 84N-IMS is possible without removing the cover. In addition, the existing mounting grid of the previous LIMES 80 and LIMES 84 series is still available. The new LIMES 84N-IMS are characterized by their high-quality and technologically advanced components. The integrated ball screw and recirculating ball bearing guides enable a highly accurate positioning with very long life. The backlash-free guides ensure optimal motion as well as high load capacity. The highly resistant black anodized protective coating of the aluminium parts prevents almost all reflections or stray light.

The LIMES 84N-IMS are available in different travel ranges of up to 270 mm, with 2-phase step motor or DC servo motor. All linear stages of the product line LIMES 84N-IMS can be combined and mounted arbitrarily, and thus allow flexible working. Vacuum-prepared versions are available on request. Of course, the LIMES 84N-IMS are of quality „Made in Germany“.
