Palbit new lines for new materials

New materials

Good examples are the alloys widely used in the aerospace industry requiring particular attention to the cutting phenomena. Some materials such as aluminum alloys generally have good machinability but the conditions need particular geometries. Others, such as titanium and nickel alloys have reduced machinability.

Over the last several years, milling aluminum at considerably higher metal removal rates has resulted in less expensive aircraft components. The higher speeds and feed rates make it cost-effective to mill complex structures in one piece instead of building them up from smaller pieces. When it''s fast enough, machining is less expensive than assembly. New materials have also been developed and adopted for cost and performance

optimization in high-speed machining conditions (HSM), especially high cutting speed and higher feeds.

Furthermore, new materials are used also in dry cutting which is becoming more and more popular. The combination of new Palbit lines (ALUPro 76090 & 77090 and new turning line LN) dedicated to the machining of aluminum alloys, with the new generation of coating CCDia, increment the value of the tool and give to Palbit a step ahead in this sector.
