LED-Curing Epoxies

The new generation of LED curing technology can achieve high intensities of UV light. The combination of this new LED curing technology and Panacol''s new epoxies results in cure times that are comparable to those using high intensity, broad spectrum UV light sources. The higher the intensity of UV light, the faster the epoxies will cure.

The advantages of epoxies in comparison to acrylates are numerous: They are more resistant to environmental stresses, and can better withstand the effects of wide temperature excursions and moisture. They feature higher glass transition temperatures, and possess lower shrinkage upon cure. Panacol''s LED-curable epoxies have dry and tack-free surfaces, making them excellent candidates for use as conformal coatings in Printed Circuit Board assembly.

At this year''s BondExpo Fair in Stuttgart/Germany Panacol will demonstrate the newly developed LED epoxies as part of its Vitralit®- adhesive series. Vitralit® 1728 HTG cures within two seconds when irradiated with an intensity of 1500 mW/cm2. Vitralit® 6648 achieves the same curing time with an intensity of 4780 mW/cm2. In addition to conformal coating PCBs, the adhesives can be used to attach electronic components on boards, and as surface coatings for scratch-resistantance.

Panacol is an international supplier in the growth market for industrial adhesives, with an extensive product range that includes UV adhesives, structural adhesives, and silicones. Headquarted in Steinbach Germany, Panacol-Elosol GmbH is a member of UV equipment manufacturer Hönle Group.
