Sustainable water system in Wildlands Adventure Zoo supplied with FEP hose with a Hytrel jacket

Due to the well-known different properties of Teflon, the material is applicable in many fields and in many applications. One of these is water treatment.

Recently Polyfluor Plastics delivered Teflon FEP hose for the sustainable water system in the "Wildlands Adventure Zoo", the new zoo in the Northern Dutch city of Emmen.

Because of the limited budget, Water Company Drenthe has developed a cost-effective method for purifying the water in the construction of the new zoo.

Normally, the purification takes place at one central point, where ozone is added to the polluted water. In the new situation the reaction between the polluted water from the basins and the ozone takes place during the transport to the central waterworks. As a result there was no need any more for an expensive construction of a water treatment plant.

The distance between the basins and the central waterworks is about 250-400 meters. Important request was to bridge this distance without using any couplings; Polyfluor Plastics was one of the few providers that could meet this requirement.

For the transport of the ozone gas we delivered FEP hose with a Hytrel jacket. The material FEP is specifically chosen because of its low permeability (so that the ozone gas can not escape from the hose). To eliminate the risk completely, the FEP hose is supplied with an additional Hytrel jacket.

Of course we are proud to have contributed to this project with our expertise and experience. The successful implementation is proof of the multi-purpose nature of Teflon products and the support that Polyfluor Plastics can provide.
