Replacing the horizontal milling machine...

... by 3D plasma cutting machine?!

Our 3D plasma cutting machine is equipped with a CNC drilling head which allows us to use it in some unconventional ways.

First example is a large thick plate (e.g. 25x1600x3200) with many holes of smaller diameter, with precise spacing (e.g. +/- 0,1mm). Here we can drill all the holes and immediately cut the plate by plasma, using the same CNC programme. This saves one more operation which would usually be to send the plate for precision drilling on another machine.

Second example is drilling holes into a welded frame. If geometry and stiffness of the frame allows drilling head access then it is possible to drill any holes in the top plane, just like into a plate and with the same precision.

Third one is to drill holes into profiles. Again, the profile must be strong and large enough to bear the pressing force of the drilling machine. If this is fulfilled, it is possible to drill any holes in the top plane, with CNC precision.

Drilling also includes tapped and countersunk holes.
