Carbide Inserts Increase Tool Life in Ultra-Hard Metals

Carmex will exhibit its CMT series of vertical milling inserts

The inserts feature a multi-flute design with four to eight cutting edges and a spiral flute for low-cutting forces. They are said to produce better surface finish, a higher removal rate and greater production through increased feeds. The inserts are available in configurations for threading, grooving and chamfering.

Carmex will also display selections of its other tooling products. The company’s BLU inserts, developed for use with super alloys such as Hastalloy, Inconel and nickel-baed alloys, are said to provide reduced cycle times and longer tool life in ultra-hard materials. Its Deep Reach toolholders provide vibration-free performance with minimal runout for deep-hole drilling and threading. In addition, Carmex’s Tiny Tools line for Swiss-style machining is well-suited for well-suited for medical, communication and aerospace applications.
