Quick-Change Workholding Decreases Downtime

Hainbuch's Centrotex System is designed to support change-over of any workholding device on a machine within five minutes while maintaining accuracies

According to the company, the quick change system eliminates the need for an operator to indicate the workholding system during change-overs, therefore decreasing machine downtime.

This system has a common flange plate that is fitted to the machine spindle with a bayonet mount on the drawtube. A subplate with a chuck or fixture is attached to this interface, rotated 15 degrees and locked via quick-connect fasteners. According to the company, location accuracy is achieved when the hardened steel balls are pulled back to conform to the taper in the flange plate. It can be mounted on any CNC machine and with most workholding or fixture devices.

The second quick change system, the Spanntop modular chuck system, utilizes the company’s original 10-second collet change for OD clamping. If users want to change-over from OD clamping to precise ID clamping without changing the clamping device, they can do so with the Mando Adapt mandrel. The mandrel is placed in the mounted clamping device and tightened three screws to lock it in place. For rotating products, concentricity of 0.005 mm between taper and mandrel taper can be achieved. For stationary clamping devices, repeatability of 0.003 mm is possible.

Also new to the modular system is the Jaw Module, which is small, flexible and covers a large clamping range.
