An adorable LED lamp with a personality

Has modern society really extinguished the creative spark among the youth? That’s a recurrent saying we refuse to believe and will fight here!

Today’s proof is given by Amanda Williams and Bruno Nadeau, two Canadian designers and co-founders of Fabule, and their exciting Clyde.

Clyde is a LED desk lamp. Ok, you have seen many of these. So what is so special about “little” Clyde (40cm!)? The gadget has its own personality and reacts to its environment. Clyde comes with switchable modules and responds to touch, light levels etc. Indeed, by using the Arduino chipset, its behavior can be customized! Ever seen a lamp “afraid of the dark” or”touchy feeling”? Programming a new personality is pretty simple: it just requires to twist off Clyde’s top and pop in a new module.

The LED lamp emits soft and ambient lightning and is WI-Fi, bluetooth and Xbee connected. The bendable legs allow Clyde to rest on them or hang off almost anything.

Amanda and Bruno used the latest high-quality materials to craft Clyde and favored LED lighting for its energy efficient characteristic. At about 6W, the LEDs output more light than a 40W incandescent.
