VIDEO: ALAIN HARRUS INTERVIEW

We Talk Disruptive Energy Innovations with Silicon Valley's Cleantech Guru

In the latest edition of our quarterly e-magazine we talk disruptive energy innovations with Cleantech investor Alain Harrus. CEO of California-based Kateeva, Harrus was an early investor in Tesla motors and is still just as passionate about finding technologies that are as equally innovative as Tesla’s energy control system for cars. He explains to us how flow batteries (reduction-oxidation flow batteries) could help store excess electrical power during off-peak hours and release it during high peak hours. He also tells us about new photo converters that are more flexible than existing materials, that could see whole buildings, including curved surfaces, become giant solar energy platforms.

New disruptive innovations are not just restricted to the Cleantech sector, traditional industries like Oil and Gas are also contributing. High-precision GPS systems have allowed the hydraulic fracturing industry to drill down horizontally to access shale oil and gas. The GPS systems are located in drill heads and must cope with very high temperatures. As with many previous technologies, these new innovations will spill over into other industries. Be sure to watch our exclusive four part interview available now!
