Electric Car Battery Factory with a Projected Annual Output of 500,000 Batteries

Tesla has selected Nevada, US as the site for its $5bn ‘gigafactory’, which will mass produce electric batteries in partnership with Panasonic. Other car battery systems have come on the market in recent times, but nothing on the scale of Tesla’s proposed production site, which is expected to produce up to 500,000 batteries annually. Once built the plant is expected to employ 6,500 workers.

However other commentators believe Nevada was far too generous with its tax incentive package and that the projected jobs creation figures have been overblown by Tesla.
