PRINTABLE, LOW COST TOUCH SENSORS

Novalia printing up Bluetooth-ready keyboards for $10 a pop

Novalia is a Cambridge-based start-up that is literally printing functional keyboards on plain photo paper with standard printing equipment. The company is using conductive ink to print out QWERTY keyboards with embedded Bluetooth low energy system-on-chip. In essence, as CEO Dr. Kate Stone explains, Novalia can “literally print touch sensors.” This low-cost, efficient capacitive touch technology lends itself especially well to cheap, everyday materials and would smoothly make the transition to mass-market applications.
