ROBO RAVEN III BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

For the first time, robotic bird can fly powered by the sun

Robo Raven III is the result of a collaborative work between professors and students at the University of Maryland. They’ve modeled the first robot capable of flying, thanks to direct solar energy. Indeed, the Robo Raven III has solar cells, integrated to its wide, independent and flapping wings, for immediate recharge of its batteries.

Let’s keep our eyes open for future robotics benefiting from that remarkable technology – such potential surely will open the way to new concepts and uses!
