PMTS 2017 Knowledge Centers Announced

Knowledge Centers are brief, interactive presentations held right on the show floor. Attend to learn about high-performance machining strategies, precision workholding, machine connectivity and more.

In addition to equipment exhibitions and machining demonstrations, the Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS) also features educational opportunities, including Knowledge Centers. Knowledge Centers are brief, interactive presentations led by industry experts and equipment suppliers. They’re intimate, limited in size and held right on the show floor.

Eight Knowledge Centers will be offered over the course of PMTS 2017, happening April 25-27 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Register for free at pmts.com until April 24, and find the Knowledge Center schedule below:

Tuesday, April 25

1 p.m. | Pushing Productivity to the Limit: High-Speed Machining of Brasses | Adam Estelle, project engineer for the Copper Development Association, presents new findings from a machinability research project on brasses.

2 p.m. | Getting “MTConnected”: A Shop-Floor Perspective | Ron Pieper, VizProducts manager for TechSolve, addresses machine shop connectivity including the practical efforts at the factory floor level necessary to retrieve data.

3 p.m. | Vacuum Vapor Degreasing – Clean and Safe Option | A presentation from Chuck Sexton, global product line manager for Kyzen, addresses the emerging trend toward vacuum vapor degreasing for cleaning.

Wednesday, April 26

10 a.m. | Speed, Accuracy, Finish: How to Achieve High-Performance Machining While Minimizing the Tradeoff | Jody Michaels, national sales manager for FANUC America Corp., reviews tools and options available to machinists to reduce cycle times while enhancing part accuracy and extending machine life.

11 a.m. | Precision Workholding Pays Dividends | Larry McMillan, Great Lakes regional sales manager for Hainbuch America, addresses the increased importance of precision workholding in the manufacture of complex, high-value components.

2 p.m. | Improving Productivity in the Job Shop | A presentation from Brian DiNola, product specialist and sales executive at Autodesk, covers the use of CAD/CAM software to increase productivity in production machining.

3 p.m. | Transform Your Manufacturing with Process Control | Danial Skulan, national sales manager for Renishaw, presents the advantages of automated processes for controlling process variation, including Renishaw’s Productive Process Pyramid approach.

Thursday, April 7

10 a.m. | Center Height and Its Importance | A presentation from Brian Lieving, sales and applications engineer for Horn USA Inc., will cover the cause and effects of off-center tooling as well as how to check and correct for center height problems.
