Full-Grip Jaws Reduce Distortion

Eastec 2017: Dillon Manufacturing’s full-grip jaws are available in diameters ranging from 6" to 24", heights of 2", 4" and 6", and metric sizes ranging from 140 to 630 mm in diameter.

Dillon Manufacturing’s full-grip jaws are available in diameters ranging from 6" to 24", heights of 2", 4" and 6", and metric sizes ranging from 140 to 630 mm in diameter. These jaws grip workpieces completely, holding them firmly in place to maintain repetitive accuracy during high-speed machining. They also reduce distortion and provide more friction for drive during turning operations, the company says.

Jaws are available in three materials for both manual and power chucks. The lightweight 356-T6 cast aluminum models offer machineability and corrosion resistance. The 6061 cast iron system is intended for applications requiring durability and long life. The 1018 CR steel system is heat-treatable and said to be easy to weld.

Potential applications include valves; cylinders; specialty wheels and gears; housings and enclosures; adaptors and connectors; aluminum and steel shells; and thin-walled parts such as automotive smog control air pump rotors, gas turbine components, and tubing and cylinder linings for diesel engines.
