Metlon Corp. Adds 3M’S C790 Carbon Black Reflective Material; Activewear Applications Combining High Performance, Style

C790 Carbon Black Reflective Material is available in 1168.4mm X 50m or 46 in. X 54.68 yds. Unit features a low-temp bonding capability and is suitable for training, running, cycling and motorsports applications. Product offers brightness level averaging 300 RA and off-angle brightness for increased visibility.

Metlon Corporation, Cranston, RI-based Authorized Distributor of 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material and contract slitting specialist, announced today the addition of C790 Carbon Black reflective material to its product line-up; this, in conjunction with 3M’s recent new product introduction.

Targeting the growing athletic activewear niche, this high-performance reflective material from 3M targets athletic apparel designers who create clothing that works from the conference room to the fitness room, from the coffee shop to the grocery store. Essentially, designers now have a single material with multi-purpose use.

The patented* C790 Carbon Black Stretch Transfer Film is a rich, deep black-colored material when viewed in daylight. But, when illuminated at night by drivers’ headlights, the material delivers vibrant reflective brightness, characteristic of Scotchlite reflective material. The vivid brightness of the material is durable through wear, stretch or washing. Featuring a low-temp bonding capability, it also can adhere to a wide variety of fabrics without affecting design or quality.

Proprietary technology sets this reflective apart. According to 3M’s product description: “Unlike traditional colorized-silver reflective materials that apply a thin layer of color on top of glass beads, 3M’s proprietary carbon black technology makes the color inherent to the material’s construction. This creates a discreet, color-fast material with an initial brightness level averaging 300 RA. Carbon black technology also helps provide off-angle brightness for increased visibility in low-light conditions.”

“This new product ideally serves the clothing needs of all demographics, fitting any lifestyle,” comments Wayne Etchells, president of Metlon Corporation. “And, just as people demand responsiveness in their technology, such as websites that work on any device and at all times, this material is responsive to many fabrics, for many active and leisure apparel applications.”

Among the wide range of applications initially cited for the C790 carbon black transfer film are: training, running, cycling, motorsports and more.

Available in 1168.4mm X 50m, or 46” X 54.68 yds. Metlon has the ability to slit the 46” width material to narrower width rolls, as required.
