Known more for its rolling element bearings, Schaefller’s VELOMATIC is an automatic bicycle gearshift system that selects the optimum gear for the rider based on several factors including cadence, wheel speed and gradient. Therefore, it allows you to travel further while expending less energy, and without the need to consciously shift gear.

VELOMATIC’s clever and ergonomic design makes it invisible to the eye, as it is stored in the seat tube, and is compatible with every type of bike and drive system. Schaeffler have created a purpose-built app, VELODAPTC, which works with both tablets and smartphones. The app collects various data that help you track your ride, such as speed, uphill or downhill gradient, distance and position. The app complements the VELOMATIC and helps the rider get the best out of their bicycle. The gearshift system is an impressive piece of kit and isn’t slow by any account, the actuator shifts from gear to gear in 0.2 seconds with a force of up to 100N. Its versatility is definetly its strong point, no need to spend top dollar on something like Ford’s MoDe: Flex to have effortless, connected biking.
