LVDT Sensors Add 4- to 20-mA Output Capability

NewTek Sensor Solutions expands the capabilities of its DC LVDT technology with 4- to 20-mA output capabilities to meet the needs of industrial monitoring and feedback applications.

In addition to offering these versions of its free-core and spring-loaded LVDTs, the company customizes 4- to 2-0mA position sensors to user specs.

The loop-powered LVDTs are viable for use in liquid level gaging, robotic automation, and industrial automation controls. The 4-20mA output signal provided by the sensors integrates with a variety of PLCs, digital indicators, computer-based data processors, and QC data collection systems. It also allows for long transmissions and greater noise immunity. NewTek offers hermetically-sealed versions of its 4 to 20 mA free-core and spring-loaded LVDTs capable of withstanding dirt, water, steam and other harsh elements. Constructed of TIG welded stainless steel, these DC-operated linear position sensors operate in hostile environments while the loop wiring connects to instrumentation remotely positioned in benign locations.

Additionally, the 4- to 20-mA sensors offer high resolutions with a standard 0.25% and optional 0.1% maximum non-linearity. Operating from 11 to 28 VDC, the dc-operated linear position sensors are available in full ranges from 0.10” (2.5 mm) to 20” (500 mm). NewTek offers its 4-20mA output sensors with built-in surge and polarity protection to guard against voltage spikes and hookup errors.
