ProMinent at drinktec 2017

UV disinfection in line with hygienic design requirements

At drinktec 2017 between 11 and 15 September 2017 in Munich, ProMinent will present its world first, the UV system Dulcodes LP, at stand 316 in hall B3. The system adapts its output according to flow and temperature, even when these parameters change rapidly. The UV system designed especially for use in the food and beverage industry satisfies hygienic design requirements, is CIP-compatible and is fitted with materials compliant with the FDA.

The Heidelberg-based manufacturer developed the UV systems Dulcodes LP especially for applications in the food and beverage industry. Its UV radiation efficiently disinfects product water without the use of chemicals. The stainless steel housing with no welded seams on the inner reactor shell satisfies hygienic design requirements. Free of gaps and dead space and featuring smooth surfaces (roughness < 0.8µm), this design ensures quick and easy cleaning (CIP Clean In Place). Bacterial colonies and cross-contamination are reliably prevented. The pipes are connected using Tri-Clamp connectors.

The patented Vario-Flux high-output lamps with dynamic lamp heating enable fast, precise control. They ensure automatic adaptation to varying flows at all times, regardless of the water temperature. As an added benefit, they are characterised by their high UV output and minimal ageing behaviour.

Thanks to the unique combination of electronic ballast technology and the Vario-Flux lamps, they can be controlled quickly and precisely over a broad range of up to 50% of the nominal power.

Efficiency increases in dimmed mode. This has a particularly positive effect when the actual flow is below the maximum possible flow of the system. Seasonal fluctuations of water temperature no longer play a role and are simply compensated for.

Flow control in the Dulcodes LP has been optimised in a reactor based on intensive computer simulation. At the same time, pressure losses were minimised. The resulting uniform radiation dose without over- or under-metering a partial volumetric flow leads to minimal use of energy, a minimal number of lamps and significantly reduced life cycle costs.
