Always on the move - 75 years of RAEDER-VOGEL

RAEDER-VOGEL has been producing wheels and castors for industry and trade in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg since 1946.

Thanks to great innovative strength and high-quality standards, the family-owned company is now one of the world's leading manufacturers in the industry.

Making wheels to help in the rebuilding of Germany was Peter Vogel's business idea when he founded his company in 1946. In a dance hall on Sperlsdeicher Weg, urgently needed wheelbarrow wheels and transport equipment were made from old tank wheels. A lot has changed since then. The company has grown steadily, as has the product portfolio and its areas of application. The company has remained loyal to the Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg location to this day.

"Quality "Made in Germany" plays a major role for us", explain Dieter Henning and Carsten Henning, Managing Partners of RÄDER-VOGEL. "We supply more than 10,000 customers all over the world, produce more than 30,000 different items, which are manufactured in our three factories here in Wilhelmsburg and shipped worldwide via our logistics centre in Hamburg-Billbrook. Our traditional production site, which has been constantly expanded over the past decades, as well as our social responsibility towards our employees and the local people, continue to keep us on the Elbe island for the long term.

Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg's largest district, situated on an island between the large arms of the river Norder- and Suederelbe, has a diverse character. Here, industry meets rural idyll, a migrant population meets young students who have discovered the district for themselves in recent years. "The diversity of this district is also reflected in our employees. People from over 30 countries of origin work for us and are the true heart of our company. Without their commitment, their dedication, their experience and their great skills, we would not be where we are today," say the partners.

The success story of RAEDER-VOGEL is based on innovative ideas and continual further development. As early as 1967, PEVOLON® was registered as the company's first own brand. Further in-house developments such as TRACTOTHAN®, a tyre material with increased traction, VULLKODYN® or PEVODYN® followed. The company has also been the world's largest manufacturer of wheels made of VULLKOLAN® since 2002.

These products are used in a wide variety of industries. Whether bearing and system technology, aviation, food and automotive industry, mining, offshore applications or leisure parks and stage technology - RAEDER-VOGEL offers the right wheels or castors for all applications, or develops new products together with customers for their specific requirements.

Today, production takes place on a total area of 34,800 m2 with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. Continuous investments, such as the latest expansion of plant 2 at Pollhornbogen for the production of wheels and castors made of VULLKOLAN® and polyurethane treads by 3,700 m2, which was completed at the beginning of 2021, secure the future of the company and guarantee the highest performance and delivery capability.

"We are proud of the history of RAEDER-VOGEL, of the values we live by as a family business. And we are looking forward to the next decades and the coming developments. We are well equipped for the future," Dieter Henning and Carsten Henning are pleased to say.
