Raythink | Raytron Industrial, a leading provider of thermal imaging solutions, today launched the PM7 Multi-Spectrum Sphere Positioning System, a new solution designed to enhance wide-area security with advanced multi-spectrum imaging and AI-powered detection and tracking capabilities.

Combining cooled thermal imaging, high-definition visible imaging, AI-powered target analytics, and a high-performance PTZ platform in a single system, the PM7 Series delivers long-range situational awareness for critical security and monitoring applications.

From coastal and perimeter security to airport monitoring, wildfire prevention, and elevated urban monitoring, PM7 is designed to help operators see farther, respond sooner, and maintain awareness across large and difficult-to-monitor areas.

1. See Farther with Advanced Thermal Imaging
At the heart of the PM7 Series is a high‑performance MWIR cooled infrared detector combined with advanced infrared image processing to deliver clear, high-quality thermal imagery at extended ranges.

The PM7 Series supports thermal resolutions up to 640 × 512 and offers multiple continuous-zoom infrared lens options, including 15–315 mm, 30–660 mm, and 80–1100 mm, enabling operators to adapt the system to different long-range observation requirements.

With thermal sensitivity of ≤ 25 mK, PM7 is engineered to reveal subtle thermal differences and maintain image detail when conventional visible cameras may struggle.

Wide-area security often requires more than detection. Operators need to understand what they are seeing, quickly direct the camera toward a target, and maintain precise situational awareness.

PM7 combines thermal and visible imaging to provide complementary information for target detection and identification. Its high-definition visible camera delivers up to 4 MP resolution, while continuous optical zoom options provide detailed visual assessment at extended distances. For enhanced long-range observation and positioning, PM7 also supports an optional laser illuminator with a maximum range of 3 km and a laser rangefinder with a maximum ranging distance of 15 km.

Complementing its dual-spectrum imaging capabilities, PM7 features a high-performance direct-drive PTZ system with a spherical design, enabling high-speed, high-precision positioning for rapid target response. With 360° continuous pan, a pan speed of up to 220°/s, and a tilt range of -90° to +90° with speeds up to 100°/s, the system enables operators to quickly reposition the camera and maintain coverage across large areas.

PM7 integrates intelligent video analytics to help operators focus on what matters.

The system supports AI-based recognition and tracking of people, vehicles, vessels, birds, and commercial drones, together with intelligent functions including tripwire and area intrusion detection. Once a target is detected, the system can support coordinated tracking between thermal and visible channels.

This combination of multispectral imaging and intelligent analytics helps reduce the burden of continuous manual monitoring and enables faster response to potential threats.

With an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C, PM7 is built to perform reliably in demanding outdoor environments.

Its direct-drive pan-tilt mechanism, high-speed positioning, and salt-spray-resistant housing further enhance system durability, making PM7 suitable for coastal, harbor, and other harsh environments where reliable, continuous surveillance is critical.
