Explosion protection for elevators and chain trough conveyors

The ElevatorEX® II from REMBE is based on a systematic approach, not on stand-alone solutions. The REMBE system solution consists of three closely coordinated components. Critical parts of the system such as the foot and head of an elevator are equipped with maintenance-free pressure discharge devices, such as the Q-Box II and rupture discs. Flame fronts are identified by infrared detectors and are extinguished by Q-Bic extinguishing barriers within milliseconds. This prevents the flames from spreading along the elevator shafts and the input and output shafts. When used indoors, the Q-Box II allows a company to save space in the placement of machinery and machine systems. There is no longer any need for the safety distance which is usually required around blow-off channels, as the Q-Box II not only extinguishes flames but also eliminates the heat produced by the explosion. Installed outdoors, the Q-Box II can protect adjoining roads and footpaths.

The ElevatorEX® II is the world''s only elevator safety system with EC type approval. Existing systems can easily be retrofitted. As the impact of an explosion is reduced to less than 0.4 bars, even older elevators can resist the effect.

In view of current and future safety requirements, this system provides an efficient and cost-saving solution for a wide range of industries and applications. The effects of explosions can be kept to a minimum. As a result, the entire system can be put back into operation very quickly, and production shortfalls and delays in delivery are much shorter.
