New Facility Advances Rocklin Mfg.'s 85-Year Mission to Give Manufacturers an Edge

Transforms 1912 Historic Building Into State-of-the-Art Home

Rocklin Manufacturing (Sioux City, Iowa) has a long and storied history dating back to 1934 during the height of The Depression. Just 8 years later, founder I.J. Rocklin moved the company to a uniquely constructed, two-story brick building built in 1912. Now, after a massive restoration effort that began in 2016, the company once again is calling this historic building home.

As part of the restoration process, Rocklin Manufacturing has pursued a listing on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, which it is on track to receive this summer. The effort featured substantial brick restoration plus windows, doors, flooring, columns and other features that match historical photographs. However, the old is coupled with state-of-the-art features, including a new conference/showroom, an engineering lab, improved office space, and enhanced production, quality control and warehousing areas.

The company's products have evolved over time, but always with a consistent focus on products designed to solve its customers biggest challenges and give manufacturers an edge. Rocklin Manufacturing now either manufactures or distributes the following quality products from its new facility:

The Rocklinizer, which applies a hard and wear resistant surface of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, or Rockhard electrode material to metals, tools and dies. Key applications include reducing die casting wear, eliminating slug pull in punching and stamping operations, enhancing gripping on bending dies, collets, clamps, etc., and prolonging the life of cutting tools, among many other applications. The newest version, the Model 950, enables faster and heavier deposit capabilities than ever before.

The MoldMender Micro Welder repairs plastic injection molds and dies made of steel. Through a simple process of welding the same material onto the affected area, imperfections are quickly alleviated in-house to minimize machine downtime and costs.

The Markator dot peen and scribe marking equipment produce deep and durable markings on nearly any material including round surfaces. The lightweight, battery-operated FlyMarker units deliver fast markings without annoying cords or cables dictating the process. The options are almost limitless, including logos, data matrix codes, an integrated barcode scanner, and easy conversion to a tabletop unit, among many others.

The LaserEvo fiber laser marking units produce rapid and intricate laser markings on all types of metals, plastics and varnished materials. The compact units include a 100,000 hour marking lifetime, user-friendly software, a 3-year warranty, and no maintenance required.

The Lase One Micro Welder produces a laser-quality weld at a fraction of the setup time, maintenance, and cost of a laser welder. The plasma-pulsed arc process enables precision welds for repairs on both ferrous and non-ferrous metal materials.
