New rail clamp / storm brakes generation for crane systems type VZFH-HVZ of Römer Fördertechnik GmbH (RFT)

Rail clamps / Storm brakes for high speed cranes and transverse travels.

Vertical and horizontal guidance Type VZFH-HVZ

The track rollers for the lateral centring of the rail clamp adjust the clamp system during lowering of the lever system before closing and thus compensate a rail displacement with vertical and horizontal movement capability if necessary. In doing so it is guided by the additional vertical–horizontal-guidance VHS within the crane housing that is mounted to the crane. For that matter it could move only vertically and horizontally within defined limits of sizes for the compensation function.

The guidance VHS, built as linking between the lever system and the housing, guarantees that the clamp system keeps its vertical position without tilting round the longitudinal axis (parallel to the rail) in a rolling movement. The rod stays again in horizontal position by bearing of a support towards the walls of the clamp housing being connected to a guide bar for preventing the lever system from tilting.

Special characteristics of the rail clamp type VZFH - HVZ:

▪ Especially suitable for fast moving crane systems and for transverse travels

▪ Vertically lifting function

▪ No contact with the rail during crane travel

- NO guide rollers / wheels, therefore NO WEAR

▪ Lateral positioning during lowering

- patent pending system -

▪ Up to 640 kN restraining force per clamp

▪ Fail-Safe-System

More in detail:

▪ No loss of clamping force resulting from jaw wear within the allowed range, because the reduced spring force is compensated by the increasing toggle lever transmission

▪ Limit switches control the position of rail clamp „clamp open“, „clamp closed“ and „lining wear“.

▪ Vertical movement compensation + 40 mm up to -20 mm

▪ Lateral movement compensation ± 25 mm by guidance of track rollers before closing the clamp

▪ All clamp parts are in positions above rail without having contact to the rail, therefore no wear of guidance rollers

▪ The avoidance of lever tilting ensures an optimal contact of clamp linings when the clamp is closing.
