ROEMHELD: Workholding technology a success at the Euroblech exhibition

Hilchenbach, November 10th, 2014. Clamping specialist ROEMHELD was pleased with the outcome of this year''s Euroblech exhibition. The spotlight was on flexible variants of rapid-clamping systems with push chain, which were on show at the exhibition for the first time. Other highlights for visitors included a force sensor for improved monitoring in magnetic clamping technology, a tool change cart, oil-free electro-mechanical wedge clamps and the new app that was introduced this spring by HILMA workholding and tool changing technology.

Modular concept for clamping diverse tools

The new models in the proven range of rapid-clamping elements with push chain are particularly versatile when it comes to automatically clamping tools in tight spaces. This is due to the fact that three different standard clamping elements and adjustment ranges can be selected for these models. The drive motor and the clamping position sensor can be mounted either on the left or right of the clamping cylinder. All model variants can be switched and adjusted in just a few quick steps.

Hydraulically-operated rapid-clamping systems are often employed as a retrofitted module on presses which use tools with varying widths and depths. Such systems are also ideally suited for the automation of entire pressing lines.

Depending on individual requirements, the rapid-clamping systems can be fitted with hollow piston cylinders, spring-clamping cylinders or single-acting sliding clamps. In the clamping action, the electrically-driven push chain moves the selected clamping element to the clamping edge of the press ram. The systems are available with three adjustment ranges up to 1,000 millimetres. The T-slots on the machine serve as the guide for the push chain. Clamping and releasing of the clamping cylinders is performed centrally, so that the clamping pressure is induced simultaneously on all elements. This ensures uniform fixation of the tool so that incorrect clamping is ruled out and the tool is clamped in a safe area outside the press.
