Rossi selected for “Lavna coal terminal” project at Murmansk seaport

Lavna coal handling complex is an innovative green field project, unique worldwide, being developed on the western coast of the Kola Bay, vis-a-vis the Murmansk port with direct access to the Barents Sea. A deep-sea terminal (draft 20m) with two berths of the total length of 636 m will have a designed capacity of 18.000.000 tons per year.

Rossi S.p.A., a Habasit Group Company, has been selected among the major international competitors for design and delivery of “the heart” of transportation system for all heavy-duty conveyors with a total length of approx. 9,5 kilometers.

The conveyors connect three different levels:

- receiving area: from wagon dumpers to storage area.

- storage area: material handling within storage area and using stackers

- loading area: from ship loaders (2 stations loading 2 ships at once)

The unique worldwide innovative drive solution is fully automated and based on Rossi industrial reducers of rated torque up to 100.000 Nm, driven by electric motors up to 450kW and with safety brakes, installed together with common swing-bases. Everything suitable for Murmansk climate conditions - in particular – for low temperatures, harbour conditions and dusty environment.

A turn-key complete drive unit tailored for customer needs, four years warranty. This is the clear answer to the recognized Rossi products quality and to the high level reached in complete drive units design. The whole project that will be completed by the end of 2020, is a part of the grand federal program called “Complex development of Murmansk transport hub” with a budget of USD 2.3 bln of which 2.0 Mln USD referred to Rossi project.
