Recovering excess chromium powder from component parts

Metal treatment specialist improves its production capacity using the Finex Separator ™

Helping a range of industries to prevent wear and tear to their component parts, Chromin Maastricht BV specializes in chrome diffusion. By using chromium powder, they create a chrome plating layer over the component part, making it resistant to abrasion and adhesion. This is particularly useful for parts such as plungers, bearing bushes and ball valves.

To achieve chrome diffusion, the company needs to bake component parts in a heat-resistant container with the chromium powder at temperatures of 800-1000 degrees Celsius. When this process is completed, excess chromium powder usually remains on the component part which previously required a hand sieve to clean the parts.

As a better alternative to this time-consuming practice, Chromin integrated a 40” Finex Separator™ into their production line to remove excess powder while allowing it to be recovered for reuse. As well as increasing capacity from 20 to 40 containers per day, the process now only requires one operator instead of two.
