H-Brake with upper beam horn extension

Special SafanDarley H-Brake with upper beam horn extension

End of 2017 SafanDarley successfully installed a special H-Brake 230 ton with upper beam horn extension at customer Schäfer Sudex s.r.o. in the Czech Republic.

Schäfer Container Systems is one of the world's leading suppliers of beverage bulk containers (KEGs) for beer, wine and soft drinks as well as stainless steel industrial bulk containers (IBCs) for liquids, solid substances and granulate. Schäfer container systems is part of Schäfer Werke, a family enterprise from Germany with a worldwide presence. Schäfer Werke is specialist in developing and manufacturing thin steel sheet and stainless steel products.

Schäfer products

One of the products of Schäfer Container Systems are stainless steel containers for a safe and reliable transport and storage. These bulk containers are special made for transport of a wide range of chemicals and liquids which guarantees a high level of safety. The housing consists of a box, which is open on one side. This product can’t be made on a standard press brake. Due to the dimensions of this box, this product can only be made with an upper beam horn on the side of a press brake

Configuration

Because of the length of the unfolded flat part ( aprox 3500mm), this press is excuted with a CNC-controlled gauging system with integrated sensors and side pushers at the back side of the horn.

To optimize the production process of the transport containers, the SafanDarley press brake is further provided with:

- Extended press beam and table.

- Horn length 1.600mm

- Special cylinders.

- Special CNC-crowning

- Special pneumatic bending support units

- Lazersafe mounted on a special guiding system to press beam

- Support-roller on the press beam

- Safety fences

How does it work?

The operator will infeed the flat material from the stock in front of the machine into the press brake on the horn-side. The operator pushes the sheet against the backstop. At the moment the sensor in the backstop is activated, the side-pushers will push the sheet against the squaring arm.

The operator can now activate the bending operation by pushing the foot pedal. At the moment the press beam reaches the clamping-point, the side-pushers will retract. The pneumatic bending support units will be activated and will support the sheet during the bending.

After the first bend is finished the press beam will return to the programmed upper dead point. At that point the second bend-step will be activated and the backstop moves in safe speed to the second position, pushing the sheet forwards. After the backstop is in position the operator can push the sheet against the backstop at the same operation as described for bend 1 will repeat. After the last bend, the product can be slided sideways over the horn to remove this out of the press brake.
