Power outages caused by storms

Storms and their associated phenomena provoke different incidents in the electricity supply, such as lightning strikes, strong winds that can cause damage to the wiring of the electricity network, transformer failures, mechanical breakdowns, etc.

All these incidents can cause from total outages to micro-outages, overvoltages, undervoltages, voltage fluctuations, frequency fluctuations, etc., disturbances in the electrical network that can cause irreparable damage to the electronic equipment connected to it and the loss of the information stored in it.

The most common disturbances in storms are micro-outages, which cause 93% of electrical problems. However, 50% of the micro-outages are less than 1 second.

Generally, the network is back to normal in a short period of time, as 90% of network failures last less than 5 minutes, although sometimes it also lasts longer than desired, preventing us from using all equipment and its features.

The best way to avoid all these problems is to have an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) installed. These devices not only provide the power required to prevent system failures caused by power outages, but also improve the quality of the mains voltage, thus preventing electrical, electronic and computer equipment connected to them from shortening their operating life.

To find out which UPS we need to adequately protect us from these electrical disturbances, it is advisable to visit a Recommender such as Salicru's own, so that, depending on the equipment to be connected and the power required, it can select the most appropriate models for us.
