Salicru safeguards the Oxigen data centre with lithium-ion batteries
The data centre in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) has a total power of 4 MW with capabilities to expand up to 8 MW. A total of six SLC ADAPT2 units are currently providing power backup for all the IT infrastructure and ancillary services at the site.
Launched in 2023, Oxigen has an extensive computing and data hosting capacity (up to 700 racks) and provides housing, cloud and hybrid public cloud services. The SLC ADAPT2 uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS) chosen for the project allow configurations of up to 500 kW per cabinet, and the state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries allow for real-time monitoring of their status and responsive incident management. In addition, they offer higher energy density, reduced self-discharge, weigh less, have a longer life span, and do not need to be completely discharged before recharging.
The SLC ADAPT2 is vertically scalable, with subracks of up to 4 modules or cabinets of up to 12 modules. Up to 3 cabinets can also be scaled horizontally, achieving up to 1,500 kW per system.
The ability to manage computing and data storage in an agile and flexible way, balancing loads between the private cloud, on-prem, and the public cloud, is, along with intelligent backup systems and disaster recovery plan services (DRP), already a cross-sector requirement. Oxigen also offers colocation services, cloud hybrid services, managed services and consultancy services for data centre design, construction and operation.
