The Spotify Camp Nou has chosen Salicru to provide its essential energy backup solutions
FC Barcelona has tasked Salicru with supplying all the uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS) for the renovated Spotify Camp Nou. This includes a total of 15 three-phase units, with an aggregate power capacity of 3,600 kW.
Power electronics company Salicru is the responsible for the energy system designed for the culé stadium, that covers critical loads such as pitch lighting, LaLiga infrastructures, DPCs and IT rooms, as well as all the systems associated with the press, security, ticketing devices, the Barça Museum and the shop. Most of the UPS equipment is from the SLC ADAPT2 range, a modular online double conversion solution that allows flexible scalability through 25 or 50-kW hot-swap power modules, connectable in parallel and with distributed control by DSP. About 20% of the equipment is monolithic, specifically, the SLC CUBE4, which is perfect for smaller critical loads. It incorporates three-phase, three-level technology, features very low input distortion (THDi < 3%), and achieves a performance of over 96% in online mode.
The equipment is installed at various points throughout the FCB's premises, one of which is a DPC with Tier IV classification, the highest of the international Uptime Institute’s tier standards. This level guarantees complete fault tolerance, redundant systems in all components (2N+1) and the ability to perform simultaneous maintenance without affecting system availability. In the case of the Spotify Camp Nou, this translates into an availability of six nines, i.e. 99.9999% per year.
Salicru was responsible for the manufacture, installation, on-site testing and commissioning of the installation and, going forward, it will also be responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance, specialist support and technical training associated with the devices.
A 2024 of record growth for Salicru
The Spotify Camp Nou project is framed within a year of consolidated growth for Salicru, which is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary and closed 2024 with a turnover of 101 million euros, an increase of almost 9% over the previous year. All its lines of business experienced growth, as did the workforce, which has increased by 20% in the last two years.
The company has manufactured more than 170,000 units and completed the most substantial investment in facilities in its history, with 3.9 million euros earmarked for improving its production and logistics capacity. It also maintains an unwavering commitment to innovation, allocating 5.0% of its turnover to research, development and investigation, three times the sector average at the European level.
Salicru is a national leader in power electronics and a benchmark supplier for top-level critical infrastructures. Its market share in Spain is over 25% for UPS systems, over 30% for direct current systems and 80% for voltage stabilisers.
